Stockholm: Spectator Sports

Stockholm is home to several top sports teams and is a great place for watching spectator sports. The most popular spectator sports are football (soccer) and ice hockey. Top football teams in Stockholm are AIK, Hammarby and Djurgården. Djurgården and AIK also have ice hockey teams with large followings. Bandy, a fast-paced game similar to ice hockey, is also well loved in Stockholm and Sweden. Famous spectator sporting events include the DN-galan, the country’s leading track and field event and a part of the IAAF World Athletic Tour, held annually in July in Stockholm’s Olympic Stadium. Another is the Stockholm Open, a tennis event on the ATP Tour, held in the Royal Tennis Hall in Östermalm in October, attracting many of the world's finest players.
