Shopping in Stockholm is a popular activity for foreign tourists and Swedes alike. In fact, no one likes to shop more than Stockholmites. Though not known for its bargain shopping, Stockholm is a center for high end and trendy clothing, with many boutiques as well as department stores and popular European chains. Östermalm is the place for luxury shopping, as is the Sturegallerian shopping complex in Norrmalm, while Gamla Stan is common for souvenirs and handicrafts. For design boutiques, bohemian and youthful styles, check out Götgatsbacken and SoFo in Södermalm. Nordic design goods, known for their marriage of beauty and functionality, include ceramics, glassware from Kosta Boda are popular purchases.
