Samos: Mountain Climbing
Tropical beaches, rolling mountains, pine forests and vineyards
Samos has only a few but very well-organised climbing fields. The best climbing field in Samos is just outside of Karlovassi, near Potami. On the other side of the island, near the village of Drakaioi, is a very interesting slope with a capacity of two or three ropes. Near the village of Marathokambos, on the south-western side of the island, you can find the slopes of Mt. Kerkes, the highest in Samos. This is the location of the oldest track called ‘The Pythagorean Theorem.’ Additionally, Tsampou beach near Kokkari is popular with mountaineers.
