Rhodes: When to go
(Ro-dos in Greek)
Boasting an amazing 300 days of sunshine a year, Rhodes is pleasant to visit whatever the season. The gorgeous summer weather often arrives as early as April and doesn't start to cool down until early November. As winter sets in, much of the island begins to close down as the tourists become scarcer and between December and February ferries become more unreliable. The sea also remains too cold for comfortably swimming in until April.
If you are looking to enjoy the Greek sunshine, June and September are an ideal time to visit although an increasing number of people are opting to holiday in Rhodes during the spring and autumn, when the climate is fresher. July and August can be unbearably hot so avoid these months unless you are a seasoned sun worshipper and are willing to wear high factor sunscreen. Most beaches are also packed with people during these months and finding a secluded spot is not always easy.
