(Ro-dos in Greek)
Sightseeing in Rhodes is a popular activity - particularly for those who want to escape the extraordinary heat of the island's beaches. There are plenty of places to enjoy sightseeing in Rhodes but the most popular place to start is the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is ideal for exploring. Its shady cobbled streets are perfectly preserved and give a fascinating glimpse into centuries past. Rhodes sightseeing can also be enjoyed in the ancient town of Lindos which greets visitors with an abundance of historical attractions, such as bright white 17th-century houses with mosaic courtyards. It is also home to the 15th-century Church of Agios Ioannis and of course, the acropolis sitting on the top of a towering 100m rock.
