Other popular areas for surfing in Puerto Rico include Punta Tuna- Maunabo on the south east corner of the island north of Fajardo, Agauadilla, Bridges and Table Rock in Aguada, Penon Amador in Camuy and Las Cabras in Hatillo amongst others. Many of the beaches have strong and dangerous currents, so enquire with locals before venturing into the waters.
The peak season for a surfing holiday in Puerto Rico is between October and April. Some of the best breaks for surfers in Puerto Rico are found along the north, northwest and west coasts of Puerto Rico. Surfing in Puerto Rico is traditionally centered around Rincon, and although the waves are good so are the locals, and the wave is normally busy. A better bet for surfing would be Dunes or Montones, with beginners being more suited to Punta Higuero.
