Geographical Location of The Netherlands
The Netherlands are located at the north-western edge of mainland Europe. They
are bordered by Belgium in the west and Germany in the east. The distance between England and the Netherlands across the North Sea varies between 231 miles (381 kilometres) from Hull to Rotterdam and 125 miles (194 kilometres) from Harwich to the Hook of Holland.
Languages of the Netherlands
Dutch is spoken and understood throughout the Netherlands. However, in the northern province of Friesland the majority of people speak Frisian, a language that is closely related to Old English. Most Dutch people speak English and many of them are fluent.
Currency of the Netherlands
The currency in the Netherlands is the Euro, which is divided into
denominations of €500, €200, €100, €50, €20, €10 and €5 and coins that range in value from one cent to two Euros (each Euro is divided into a hundred cents). Although the Netherlands issues its own notes and coins, they can be used anywhere within the Euro area.
