Netherlands: Canoeing
Bustling liberal cities, Windmills, flowers, fish, cafés, cheese - and tall people

There are many opportunities for see canoeing in the Netherlands, especially in the north, around the Wadden Islands. With its plethora of canals and low lying countryside, the Netherlands is an ideal location for canoeing. The canal system in the Netherlands, coupled with the many navigable rivers and lakes, means that there are opportunities for canoeing and kayaking in most Dutch provinces. However, you may find it difficult to find rapids and white waters, because of the low-lying terrain. The Nederlandse Kanonbond (NKB) is the national association for canoeing in Holland. It organises competitions and events throughout the year. To compete in events paddlers must be members and have a licence, which is issued by the NKB.
