Munich: Hiking - Walking
Folklore and age-old traditions with sleek BMWs, designer boutiques and modern people
There are walks and hikes to suit all levels in Munich. Being so close to the Alps, there are plenty of opportunities to scale the surrounding mountains. Two of the most popular mountain climbs for families is Rotwand which stands 1884 metres high, and the “Jochberg”, which stands 1565 metres tall. For those who want to remain on level ground, and do some sightseeing, Munich's medieval city centre or Alstadt, is ideal for walkers thanks to a pedestrian street running through it from Karlstor on the west side to Isartor on the east side.
