Munich: Food and Drink
Folklore and age-old traditions with sleek BMWs, designer boutiques and modern people
Due to Munich being an international tourist destination and boasting a population where one in four residents is of a foreign nationality, there are many restaurants in Munich offering local cuisine and that from abroad. Restaurants in the Bavarian city are spread across different districts. One of the most popular areas for eating out is the Altstadt (Old Town) area where there is a mixture of upmarket restaurants and low cost eateries. Knödel (popular dumplings made from either bread or potatoes) and Leberkäse (baked sausage, served sliced with a bread roll) are amongst the local delicacies which can be found in the city.
