Miami Main Sights

Although Miami is barely more than a hundred years young, there are many main sights in Miami to take in. If stunning architecture is your thing, there are hundreds of significant buildings to see: for the main sights in Miami take a look along the streets in some of Miami’s historic neighbourhoods like Coconut Grove, Miami Beach, Little Havana, South Beach’s art deco district, and Coral Gables.

In Downtown Miami, you’ll find a starting point for some of the main sights at the Miami-Dade Cultural Center. This houses the Historical Museum of Southern Florida along with the Miami Art Museum. To the south west of the Cultural Center, you’ll find more main sights on offer in Miami’s Little Havana – an atmospheric neighbourhood that many of Miami’s Hispanic and Caribbean immigrants call home. A sight not to be missed here if you’re sightseeing in Miami in March is the Calle Ocho Festival – one of the biggest street parties anywhere in the world.

Miami’s uber-trendy South Beach also gives you the opportunity to take in some more of Miami’s main sights. Here you’ll find fabulous Art Deco hotels and buildings, mixed in with the sight of Miami’s beautiful people taking in the rays. One of the best ways to take in the main sights here is to go on one of the many walking tours offered in Miami.

Another sight not to be missed, in main Miami’s Coconut Grove, is the beautiful Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. The beautiful Italianate palace was built in Miami in 1916 and is a sight not to be missed by Miami sightseers.

Or, for the chance to see what early settlers’ life was like in the Miami area, make sure you visit The Barnacle. This Miamian pioneer residence will give you a really interesting glimpse into life before all of Miami’s glitz came to town, and is one of the main sights you shouldn’t miss when coming to Miami. Another main sight well worth seeing is Miami’s Ancient Spanish Monastery, located in North Miami Beach.
