Miami: Crime

Alligators, mosquitos, hurricanes, funky people and a vivacious nightlife

Miami Crime

Miami has a reputation for a high crime level. This has considerably improved of late, and Miami criminals don’t often target strangers. But, nonetheless, it will serve you well to keep your wits about you and be vigilant if you want to avoid being a victim of crime in Miami.

If you’re visiting neighbourhoods like Little Haiti, Overtown or Liberty City, be especially careful as crime is quite prevalent in these Miamian areas. Don’t walk alone at night here, as you may be at risk from calculating, aggressive muggers or vagrants.

Be particularly careful around the Greyhound station in Overtown in Downtown Miami as criminals converge around the overpasses and bridges here.
