Madrid: Hiking - Walking

The Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) organises walking tours around the centre of Madrid and tickets are available from the Tourist Office in Plaza Mayor. There is a tour of Old Madrid, the Madrid of Cervantes, Madrid's churches, historical Buildings in Madrid, around the Royal Palace, Madrid by Bike, and many others which will probably suit different tastes.

Most walking tours in Madrid arranged by the Town Hall leave from Plaza Mayor in the morning but do check the exact time when you book, and the best part of it is that the walks cost just over 3 euros per person, with reduced rate for under 25s, students, retired people and the unemployed. Walking in Madrid is an enjoyable experience and should you prefer to make your own plans, then there are plenty of districts in which you can enjoy a leisurely stroll.
