Beautiful views, majestic monasteries, quaint cafe's and more

Lisbon’s has a thiving surfing culture. Portugal in general is a popular surfing destination and has many impressive surfing beaches with large, spectacular waves. Some beaches such as Carcavelos can get crowded and treacherous big wave areas such as Guincho should be left to the pros. The coast up to Cas-cais and beyond offers a great variety of small and large wave surf spots and breaks, which are popular for short, long and body boards. There are also great surfing beaches on the Costa de Caparica. Ericeira, the Lisbon area’s surf capital, regularly hosts the World Surf Championship and has a surf camp which is inex-pensive and well-regarded.
