Costa Rica: Spectator Sports

Costa Rica is soccer-mad and May-October marks the semi-professional and amateur soccer season where matches are held in the Estadio Nacional. Masses of fans flock to the championship matches that are held on Sundays during October. The San Jose Marathon is another sporting highlight, though not the best spectator sport. The capital also plays host to a famous internationally-known young tennis tournament.
