Costa Dorada: Suggested Itinerary

The Golden Coast

Day 1: If a family vacation is what you need, a holiday to Costa Dorada is the place to go. Salou is fast becoming the best destination for families. The beaches are great for building sandcastles and lazing around and this has to be on the menu on Day 1, with or without children.

Days 2 & 3: The beaches are not the only reason that Salou is the best family destination. It is the Universal Studios Port Adventure theme park. The theme park has five different places known as worlds to explore. Each park or world has its own unique theme with shows, rides, shops and restaurants. You should spend at least two days here as there are ample things to keep you busy.

Day 4: Another park to go to is Aqualeon. This aqua park is enjoyable for the day. The park is an open-air one that has a safari theme, with over six hundred animals roaming around. There are shows preformed daily with reptiles, birds and marine animals, as well as a wave pool, slides, rapids and a children's pool. The mini zoo is a nice place for younger kids and the volleyball beaches are great for the rest of the family to play a little volleyball. There are cafés and restaurants as well as little shops to entertain the ladies.

Day 5: Make a visit to the Montserrat monastery. This is located in west Barcelona and is the most incredible sight you will ever see. Tarragona is another place to visit. One can only glaze at this magnificent area and wonder how it withstood the years. The architecture and medieval surrounding is a history lover’s delight.

Day 6: Go for an adventurous day on the beach. There are beaches for windsurfing, snorkelling and beaches for those that just want to lounge around in the sun. The area just screams excitement and adventure as soon as you arrive. Many of the locals offer stories as well as directions on how to find the most popular areas for different types of water sports.

Day 7: Either make it another long last lazy day at the beach or head home.
