Corsica: Suggested Itinerary
A little slice of heaven (out of peak season)
Day 1: Fly into Calvi and spend the first day exploring the town and its citadel. Highlights include walking the cobbled streets of the citadel, taking lunch on the Quai Landry admiring the yachts and view of the mountains and relaxing on the six kilometres of gently shelving sandy beach.
Day 2: Get up and drive through the Balagne, visit the authentic perched villages and take in the breathtaking views. Why not follow the 'Strada di l'Artigiani', the Balagne Crafts Trail, to pick up some handicrafts from artists workshops?
Day 3: Take a lazy holiday day on this beautiful island. Spend your morning wandering around l'Ile Rousse market and use the rest of the day for lazing on the beach.
Day 4: Drive into the mountainous centre of the island and visit Corte, the spiritual capital of the island
Day 5: Immerse yourself into the heart of the island. The mountains offer a number of opportunities for walking.
Day 6: Drive to the west coast and discover a wonderful display of nature at its finest. The Gulf of Porto and the dramatic Calanches de Piana will surely take your breath away.
Day 7: Drive further north along the west coast and discover la Réserve Naturelle de Scandola, with its impressive red granite cliffs plunging into the transparent sea below. Continue to travel towards the north on the D81 road, which is probably one of the most beautiful, scenic roads of the island.
Day 8: Fly back from Calvi after an exhilarating trip.
