Cannes: Crime
Pearl of the French Riviera
Like any typical European city, Cannes presents the usual risks to visitors in terms of the chances of being robbed or experiencing crime of some description. Violent crime levels are not especially high although they are by no means non existent. By taking obvious precautions such as not wandering into poorly lit or unpopulated areas of the city at night you can minimise your chances of becoming a victim. Do not leave anything valuable inside your vehicle if you are driving in Cannes, and avoid parking in quiet, dark streets. You may also wish to lock the doors of your vehicle when sitting at traffic lights as an extra precaution. As in any popular tourist destination, Cannes has its fair share of pickpockets. So keep wallets and purses in front pockets at all times or better still, keep cash in a concealed money belt.
