The crime rate in Canada has been in general decline since 1991, and tends to be lower than that of the United States. The highest volume of crime is property-related, followed by violent crime, but violence does not particularly prevail in Canada. Many types of weapons are banned or restricted in Canada, and only one third of Canadian murders involve firearms. You should not feel worried or unsafe if you are planning a holiday in Canada.
