Canada: Horse Riding

As Canada has so many vast open areas without the scars of modern development, it is an ideal place to go horse riding. The scenery is beautiful and horse riding through the maple, oak and aspen forests of somewhere like Quebec is a delightful experience, particularly if you go when the leaves begin to turn in autumn. The blazing colors are almost overpowering and the crisp air at that time of year is exhilarating. Your horse will travel on trails that lead through valleys, along rivers, through uninhabited meadows, or over alpine ridges. Most horse riding trips will be guided, but after you get comfortable with your horse you can set out on your own, or if you are an experienced rider. Many horse riding trips in Canada will allow you to set out for a few hours or a whole day alone.
