Budapest: Fishing

The river Danube is teeming with a vast variety of fresh water fish making fishing in Budapest an enjoyable and worthwhile experience. However, to fish in Budapest you must have a fishing licence. If you have a valid fishing licence from your own country this will act as a substitute to fish in Hungarian waters, but if you do not have a fishing licence you must purchase one from the Hungarian fishing authorities or join a fishing club. Licences cost between £10-15 a year. There are no organised fishing trips in Budapest so anyone wanting to fish during their stay must bring their own tackle.
