Brisbane is the state capital of Queensland and its most populous city. Behind Sydney and Melbourne, it is the third most populous city in Australia. English is the predominant spoken language in Brisbane, with other languages including Mandarin, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Italian and Samoan also present in pockets throughout the city.
