Bangkok: Crime

Generally Bangkok has a low level of street crime. The crime in Bangkok that tourists are most commonly connected with is the scams that go on created by the locals. This includes gem scams, tour scams and prostitution scams. There are obviously slum areas that shouldn’t be visited without caution and certain seedy parts of town that you should be weary of. Also, the Khao San Rd area at night attracts many of the low-level scum of the city, so you have to be aware of your surroundings and be smart.
