Bahamas: Shopping
29 islands against a backdrop of blue

Shopping in the Bahamas is divided between high priced boutiques, souvenirs and local or “straw” markets, where you can bargain for preserves and crafts such as hats, bags and woodwork. Bay Street in Nassau is the main center for upscale shopping, and has luxury brand boutiques, tourist shops and nice restaurants. The Atlantis Resort on Paradise island has larger stores with lots of wares, and the International Bazaar in Freeport on Grand Bahama is a large, cosmopolitan market of shops, cafes and vendors located in the center of town. Though not a bargain shopping mecca, there is no sales tax in the Bahamas, just a flat $15 (11€) departure tax, so prices may be less that what you are used to for certain items.
