Athens: Hostels

The Ancient Capital of Greece

Athens Hostels

Athens has been popular with backpackers for generations, and there are plenty of decent hostels in Athens, including a couple of places in the Plaka area and near the Acropolis, though most will be a little further from the city centre. A bed in a dorm room will typically cost around 10-15 Euros and many of Athens’ hostels also offer double rooms for around 50 Euros. Facilities and levels of comfort vary enormously, and it’s a good idea to look around a few places if you can. Many have shared kitchens, lounges and laundries and are generally friendly, sociable places to meet other international travellers. Many hostels can be booked online. There are plenty to choose from, but in summer they book up very quickly.
