Antigua and Barbuda: Wine Tasting

Life is a beach

Antigua and Barbuda Wine Tasting

Antigua is not a wine growing country, importing wines mainly from Europe, South Africa and Australia. There is a good selection of wines to accompany local and international cuisine; well stocked cellars are not uncommon in Antigua albeit a bit pricey. Wine tasting is not on the agenda as an organised event but when it comes to tasting you are strongly recommended to take in a Rum Factory Tour of the Antigua Distillery. Founded in 1932. Most of the rum ingredients are locally produced and the methods haven’t changed. The distillery produces the international award winning English Harbour 5 year Old Rum, light and dark varieties. The rum tasting can be a riotous occasion but do not forget to buy two bottles at the factory, one for holiday consumption and one to take home.
