Apartments in the Bahamas

Private apartment rental in the Bahamas is not the most common means of accommodation, but may be a good option for both long and short stays if you can find something good. Bahamian apartments can be had for as low as 550€ per month (for something small, basic and in a less than prime location) but can also easily exceed 2000€ for a larger nicer flat in a prime spot. A good option for nightly accommodation in some of the more remote locations the Bahamas might be apartment-hotels such as the Tropical Dreams Motel Apartment on Eleuthera, which sleeps 4 and starts at only 60€ a night, or Genesis House on Great Exuma, which offers similar accommodation for around 72€.

These are good choices for family getaways in idyllic beach locations. Prices are based on a per night, per week, or even per month basis, with prices starting as low as 70€ a night for something simple, and exceeding 7,000€ a week for a large luxury villa.

Hotels in the Bahamas

The Bahamas are not the place for a budget holiday, and hotel prices reflect this. Hotels in the Bahamas normally run from 150€ to 200€ per night, but there are some cheaper, simpler options available for around 50€. The selection of resort and first class hotels is very wide and the sky is virtually the limit as far as price and luxury are concerned. The vast majority of hotels are around Nassau and on nearby Paradise Island, but there are many exclusive and less busy spots throughout the islands, offering attractive getaways on gorgeous tropical shores.

Hostels

Hostels in the Bahamas

Being a luxury holiday spot, the Bahamas do not really have inexpensive hostels or backpacker accommodation as is seen in many places in the world. There are, however, some relatively cheap guesthouses in the more remote places on the islands, such as Hoopers Bay Villas on Great Exuma, Surfer’s Manor and the especially inexpensive Surfer's Haven Guesthouse (from under 14€ for a private room in the low season), both in Gregory Town on Eleuthera. The Towne Hotel in Nassau provides an urban option for 20€ per person in a triple room.

Resorts in the Bahamas

The Bahamas are an internationally famous beach resort holiday destination. The majority of resorts are around Nassau (such as Cable Beach) and on nearby Paradise Island, the largest and most famous being the Atlantis Resort and Casino. There are also many exclusive and less busy spots throughout the islands, offering relaxing luxurious resort accommodation on first class tropical beaches. Old Bahama Bay Resort and Yacht Harbour on Grand Bahama Island and the prestigious Four Seasons on Great Exuma are two of the most highly rated. Other resort options include golf resorts and those catering towards the fishing or sailing crowds, as well as select resorts on Andros Island and in the Abacos. Top resorts often offer considerable discounts in the off season, but peak prices can easily exceed 300€ per night.

Self-Catering Accommodation in the Bahamas

Most visitors to the Bahamas do not do their own cooking, but rather let the many hotels, resorts and restaurants provide them with meals. However, there are some options for self-catering lodging in the Bahamas, including short term apartment rentals or apartment-hotels, and most of all holiday villas. These are often booked privately, but may also be arranged via a service. Many villas are located on Abaco and Eleuthera. These are good choices for family getaways in idyllic beach locations. Prices are based on a per night, per week or per month basis and some good deals may be found.
